Standardized Tests and College
Applications – 10 Common Myths

If you are a college-bound high school student (or parent), with questions about standardized tests
like the SAT and the ACT - this is the workshop for you. College-bound high school students and their
parents will learn about common myths surrounding how tests are used for college admissions, what the
tests measure, and how to prepare for them. A list of helpful resources will be provided.

About the workshop facilitator: Sally Wendt, Ph.D. is an independent educational consultant and founder of Appletree College Advising.
Dr. Wendt has over 12 years of experience as a psychology professor and academic advisor assisting college students with their academic
and career planning. She holds a certificate with distinction in college counseling from the UCLA Extension Program, and is a member of the
National Association for College Admission Counseling, the New England Association for College Admission Counseling, the Independent Education Consultants
Association, and the American Psychological Association. Her college counseling practice is in Amherst.
