The Circulation and Reference Department is committed to providing excellent customer service. You may borrow, return, or renew items at our circulation desk. We will hold reserve items for you, and will notify you when items are being held by phone or email.   The Circulation Staff is committed to making your visits to the library enjoyable ones. CW/MARS Library Network           


The Clapp Memorial Library belongs to the Central/Western Massachusetts Automated Resource Sharing, Inc. (CW/MARS). This is a network of public, academic, special, school, and regional libraries in central and western Massachusetts.

As part of this network, patrons may now use one card to borrow materials at most of our surrounding public libraries. You may also return materials, pay overdue fines, and pay for lost items at any member library.

Rules in order to obtain a free library card

Patrons age 18 and over must have a picture ID with a current address. If your picture ID does not have your current address, you must produce business mail, checkbook, or auto registration.

Patrons age 17 and younger must have a parent/guardian signature. A child may have a card at any age if a parent desires.

LOANS

All DVD, Video, magazine, and periodical item types checked out circulates for 7 days

 with 1 renewal for 7 days.

All Museum Passes checked out circulates for 1 day and requires a $10.00 refundable

deposit.  Passes are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

All other material checked out circulates for 21 days with 1 renewal for 21 days.

 

Fines

DVD/Video item types and Video Game item types accrue a $1.00 daily fine with a maximum fine of $5.00 per item.

Circulating print and audio material accrue a 10¢ daily overdue fine with a $3.00 maximum fine

per item.

Museum Passes circulate for 1 day with a $1.00 per day overdue fine.

There is no grace period.

Blocking Thresholds

Patrons are blocked by the system when:
  1. Your registration expires.  Stop by or call the Circulation Desk (323-0417) to update your registration.
  2. You owe $10.00 or more in fines, replacement costs, fees.
  3. You have an item checked out to you with a  billed status.
  4. You have 50 or more items checked out.

In addition:

The Clapp Memorial Library has established the following item specific check out limits:

  1. CD  limit 10 items.
  2. Video, and DVD, limit 15 items, 10 Video & 5 DVD per family.
  3. CDROM limit 3 items.
